Photo Goofs/Oddities Section

Over the years, it has been proven that sign mistakes and other bizarre oddities can happen.    It is no different in St. Louis than in any other area.  Listed below are some of the funnier oops that became a Kodak moment.  Click on the image to view the full-size version of the photo.

wrongexit2.jpg (42294 bytes) When the I-270/I-170 interchange project started in February 2002, the contractor for this project put up several signs warning motorists to take alternate routes.  For this sign, the exit number for Lindbergh is indicated as Exit 27.  In reality, the exit on Lindbergh on this section of I-270 in North St. Louis County is Exit 25 AB, while Exit 27 was the exit for New Florissant Road.  This goof was discovered and fixed between March 11-14 of 2002 with correct signs, but not before Rich Piehl took this picture on February 27, 2002.
mcdonnell.jpg (6223 bytes) Sometimes, MoDOT simply forgets to put exit tabs over guide signs at interchanges.  On westbound 270, all the signs for the McDonnell exit lack the "Exit 23" tab.  Although this sign that was photographed on May 26, 2000 has been replaced, the new signs still lack the exit tabs.
